- Satur Ocampo has been jailed by three Administrations (Marcos, Aquino, Arroyo) and has been released due to the Courts’ findings that they lack merit. In fact, Satur has never been convicted of ANYTHING in his whole life. The same goes for Liza Maza. On the other hand, a nuisance candidate has been officially found to have a hand in the torture of activist Raymond Manalo by the Supreme Court. Clue: He’s the one who’s been virtually expelled from Davao by the residents there.
- Satur Ocampo and Liza Maza are two out of the three national-level candidates, and the only senatoriables, to express their support and help the students of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in opposing the proposed 1700% Tuition Fee Increase. They are also among the main authors of the proposed Three-Year Tuition Hike Moratorium Bill, a bill most presidentiables did not bother supporting during their stint in the House and in the Senate.
- Satur Ocampo and Liza Maza have produced more meaningful laws (no road renaming resolutions please!) in three terms than some, if not most, presidentiables. Among these are overseas absentee voting, the abolition of the death penalty, anti-torture law, strengthening of the public attorney’s office, magna carta of women, anti-violence against women & children, juvenile welfare act, anti-human trafficking, minimum wage earners’ tax relief, and housing rent control. Hey, if this was a Western “democracy” which Liberals glorify, these two would be sure winners!
- Satur Ocampo and Liza Maza have done all of these despite being denied their pork barrel since 2005 on the Arroyo Administration. If you were a businessman, you’d see them as the ultimate investment in terms of good governance: minimal costs and maximum performance.
